FREE Sewing Class for STL City Youth

Class Description

The Summer Creative Sewing Program is a 6 session free sewing program for St. Louis City residents ages 14 years - 24 years. This program meets on Saturdays. June 13th - July 25th at 12pm - 4pm. This program is designed for local youth who are serious about learning the fundamentals of sewing. Whether your goal is to become a sewing designer, entrepreneur, or to pursue employment in a sewing or manufacturing environment, this program provides a strong foundation to get you started. Participants will receive hands-on instruction in sewing fundamentals. No prior sewing experience is required—just commitment, focus, and a willingness to learn. Program Details Dates: June 6th - July 25th Schedule: Saturdays | 12:00PM - 4:00PM Location: Thomas Dunn Learning Center 3113 Gasconade Street, St. Louis, MO 63118 Who Should Apply This free sewing program is for St. Louis City youth who are between the ages of 14 and 24 years of age. Proof of St. Louis city residence will be required on the first day of class. We are able to provide this class free of charge for St. Louis City youth due to grant funding provided by the City of St. Louis. If you are not a St. Louis City resident and are interested in this class, please check our class schedule and sign up for our Summer Sewing Class. Eligibility & Requirements Must be 14 years - 24 years of of age Can commit to attending the classes June 13th - July 25th. We will not have class on July 4th. Participants who meet attendance and class guidelines are eligible for a $1,000.00 stipend at the end of the program. Requirements for the $1,000.00 stipend are: - Age 14-24 years old - Cannot miss more than 2 classes - Reside in the City of St. Louis Students should be able to perform essential functions of the program with or without reasonable accommodations Basic understanding of the English language No prior sewing experience required Thanks to the generous support of a grant by the City of St. Louis, Office of Violence Prevention we are able to provide a scholarship/stipend to eligible participants of this program.
