Class Description

Do you desire to learn how to sew clothes? Are you ready to learn about fabrics, and how to make clothes that fit your body? Do you want to learn to sew for others? Join us for this fun, ages 14 and up class that jumps right into garment sewing! This class focuses directly on clothing. We won't start with pillows or bags, we will get you comfortable sewing garments! This class is held on the following Saturdays at 10:00AM - 1:00PM The class dates are January 4th-25th Over the course of four weeks, you will learn important sewing fundamentals and skills that will help you throughout your sewing journey. Each course is 3 hours long and is open to male and female adult participants. This class emphasizes garment sewing and sewing by commercial sewing patterns. Week 1: Fundamentals Learn your sewing machine How to thread a sewing machine Wind a sewing machine bobbin How to sew a straight line, curves, and corners Sew a fun, beginner project Weeks 2, 3&4 : Understanding Commercial Sewing Patterns How to read a sewing pattern How to determine your size on a commercial sewing pattern How to take basic body measurements How to grade a commercial sewing pattern Learn to select the appropriate fabric for your sewing pattern How to cut your commercial sewing pattern How to mark a sewing pattern Begin working on a beginner sewing pattern of your choice with input from your sewing instructor Your course fee includes all sewing instruction, sewing machine usage, and sewing supplies. During your first class you will choose from a variety of fashionable, beginner friendly sewing patterns for your first project. Cancellation Policy

Registration & Payment: Payment is required upon class registration. Guests, children and pets are not permitted during class. Service dogs are welcome, please inform us in advance. For any special assistance requirements, please notify us in advance so we can assist you. Students may arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up for class. Classes will begin promptly. Refund Policy: If Sew Hope cancels a class due to low attendance you may opt for a full refund or credit. For student initiated cancellations, a full class refund if cancelled 5 days before the scheduled class. A credit is issued for cancellations 2-4 days prior to your class. No refund or credit is given for cancellations within one day of class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for withdrawals after the class begins or for missed classes due to illness, personal conflicts or other reasons. Credit or fee transfer to future classes is possible, valid for up to 6 months from the originally registered class date. In the event of class cancellation due to weather or unforseen circumstances, we will attempt to reschedule. If the rescheduled date is inconvenient, you may opt for a refund, or credit (prorated for multi-session classes)
