Class Description
Pattern Making 1 with Lydia We are thrilled to welcome Lydia Merritt to our teaching team at the Sew Hope Community Sewing Room! With her extensive experience in pattern making and sewing production, Lydia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our community. Class Overview: In this engaging 5-week course, you will learn to create bodice, skirt, sleeve, and pant slopers – the foundational building blocks for designing your own custom patterns. Each week, you'll receive hands-on instruction and personalized attention to help you master the fundamentals of pattern making. Course Details: Schedule: Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Dates: March 6, March 13, March 20, March 27, and April 3 Prerequisite: Basic sewing machine knowledge is required. Cost: $249 Instructor: Lydia Merritt Contact: LydiaMerritt314@gmail.com Weekly Breakdown: Week 1: Learn how to take accurate body measurements and begin drafting your bodice pattern. Week 2: Complete the bodice pattern and create a muslin. Week 3: Draft front and back skirt patterns and construct a muslin. Week 4: Design your sleeve pattern and make a muslin. Week 5: Build your pant pattern and sew a muslin. Please note: The class schedule may adapt based on the needs of the instructor and students. Materials: Bring 2–3 yards of muslin fabric or purchase it directly from Sew Hope Community Sewing Room. Cancellation Policy
Registration & Payment: Payment is required upon class registration. Guests, children and pets are not permitted during class. Service dogs are welcome, please inform us in advance. For any special assistance requirements, please notify us in advance so we can assist you. Students may arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up for class. Classes will begin promptly. Refund Policy: If Sew Hope cancels a class due to low attendance you may opt for a full refund or credit. For student initiated cancellations, a full class refund if cancelled 5 days before the scheduled class. A credit is issued for cancellations 2-4 days prior to your class. No refund or credit is given for cancellations within one day of class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for withdrawals after the class begins or for missed classes due to illness, personal conflicts or other reasons. Credit or fee transfer to future classes is possible, valid for up to 6 months from the originally registered class date. In the event of class cancellation due to weather or unforseen circumstances, we will attempt to reschedule. If the rescheduled date is inconvenient, you may opt for a refund, or credit (prorated for multi-session classes)
