Class Description

A class with a mission!! When you sign up for this class, you are helping to send Kacie back to Africa for a mission trip to help empower widows in Mozambique. This lined tote bag with a recessed zipper allows you to store EVERYTHING and is great for travel, to give as a gift or to carry around as you run errands. In this class you will learn how to insert a zipper, add a lining and work with interfacing to give your bag structure. If you are new to sewing, no worries - we will show you how to make your bag with step-by-step instructions. Everyone will leave with their custom tote bag by the end of the class. A bit more about this special class: Our founder, Kacie Starr Long is headed to Beira, Mozambique as part of an exploratory mission to view the faith-based Restoring Hope sewing school for African widows in Beira, Mozambique. Kacie will travel to Mozambique to learn best practices on how to structure such a school, and will use this information to help construct a similar Sew Hope school in the U.S. for women and men re-entering the community post-incarceration. Upon registration, you will receive an email with fabric swatches to choose from for your tote bag. We will use fabric purchased from Kacie's July 2022 mission trip to Kampala, Uganda. All supplies and notions are included in this class. Come hear about the upcoming trip to Mozambique, how you can play a part in the work taking place in Mozambique, and learn more about the next phase of Sew Hope which includes serving men and women transitioning to the community from prison through sewing and quilting. We can't wait to see you! Class Date: November 26th 3:00pm - 5:30pm Donation: $69
