Class Description

Do you desire to learn how to sew and design clothes? If so, this is the class that you have been waiting for! Learn how to sew in a fun, creative environment with detailed instruction that will give you confidence as a sewer. Each course is 2 hours long and is open to male and female students ages 8 and up. This class emphasizes garment sewing and sewing by commercial sewing patterns. This class is for adults and kids. This class is for those who have taken our Sewing Machine Basics class or have knowledge on how to use a sewing machine. This may include kids who have taken our "Kids Learn to Sew Course." Students will learn how to sew clothes using commercial sewing patterns. Upon registration, student will have a consultation with sewing instructor to provide any requested advice on sewing pattern and fabric. You will learn: How to read a sewing pattern How to determine your size on a commercial sewing pattern How to take basic body measurements How to grade a commercial sewing pattern Learn to select the appropriate fabric for your sewing pattern How to cut your commercial sewing pattern How to mark a sewing pattern Begin working on a beginner sewing pattern and complete sewing project to create a finished garment. This class is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm - 8pm. Students may work at their own pace. Your course fee includes all sewing instruction, sewing machine usage, and sewing supplies. We do have sewing machines that you may use, but if you have your own we encourage you to bring it since we are operating in our temporary location while our shop is being renovated.

Cancellation Policy We are so excited to offer this class and your safety is important. Therefore, we do encourage all students to wear a face mask. We can't force anyone to wear a face mask but we certainly encourage it. If you are sick with Covid-19 symptoms, please refrain from attending class. If you are unable to attend a one-time class due to sickness or another life event that prevents you from attending, we are happy to provide a class credit that can be used for any future class at Sew Hope.
