Class Description

Experience the elegance and versatility of Japanese-inspired fashion with our fun and funky kimono sew-along. This unisex, oversized pattern is stylish and easy to wear, complementing any wardrobe. While this project is approachable for those with basic sewing skills, it provides an excellent opportunity to refine your techniques. **For those who have never sewn before, we will start you off with learning how to use a sewing machine.** You'll then join other sewists that have sewing machine knowledge. Everyone will learn about the essentials of fabric selection, pattern layout, then move on to pinning, stitching, and assembling your very own kimono jacket. The class covers how to attach patch pockets, and use a serger to achieve professional interior finishes. What this class includes: 4 yards of 100% cotton African print fabric Commercial kimono pattern Sewing machine Sewing notions, and supplies This class will provide a variety of African print cotton fabric for your kimono. If you do not want our selected African print fabric (we will offer a variety of colors/patterns to choose from) you are welcome to bring 4-5 yards of lightweight linen, or cotton for your fabric at your own cost. This workshop is offered in two formats: a single full-day session on Saturday, June 1st 10am - 4pm or you can choose our multi-session class on Tuesdays 6pm - 8pm June 4th - June 25th. Need a Sewing Machine Lesson/Refresher course? **For those who are not comfortable using a sewing machine, we will provide a special class for you called Sewing Machine Basics which is a 90-minute class that teaches you how to use a sewing machine, how to thread your machine, wind your bobbin and sew straight stitches. There is a fee of $49.00 for this class.

Cancellation Policy

Registration & Payment: Payment is required upon class registration. Guests, children and pets are not permitted during class. Service dogs are welcome, please inform us in advance. For any special assistance requirements, please notify us in advance so we can assist you. Students may arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up for class. Classes will begin promptly. Refund Policy: If Sew Hope cancels a class due to low attendance you may opt for a full refund or credit. For student initiated cancellations, a full class refund if cancelled 5 days before the scheduled class. A credit is issued for cancellations 2-4 days prior to your class. No refund or credit is given for cancellations within one day of class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for withdrawals after the class begins or for missed classes due to illness, personal conflicts or other reasons. Credit or fee transfer to future classes is possible, valid for up to 6 months from the originally registered class date. In the event of class cancellation due to weather or unforseen circumstances, we will attempt to reschedule. If the rescheduled date is inconvenient, you may opt for a refund, or credit (prorated for multi-session classes)
