Class Description

The Sew Hope Apprenticeship Sewing Program is a 14-week intensive sewing training experience designed for individuals who are serious about learning the fundamentals of sewing and basic garment production. Whether your goal is to become a sewing designer, entrepreneur, or to pursue employment in a sewing or manufacturing environment, this program provides a strong foundation to get you started. Participants will receive hands-on instruction in sewing fundamentals, garment construction basics, and sewing machine operation in a supportive but rigorous learning environment. No prior sewing experience is required—just commitment, focus, and a willingness to learn. Program Details Dates: January 26, 2026 – April 27, 2026 Schedule: Mondays | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Location: Thomas Dunn Learning Center 3113 Gasconade Street, St. Louis, MO 63118 Who Should Apply This program is ideal for individuals who: Are serious about learning to sew in a structured, professional setting Are interested in sewing as a pathway to employment, entrepreneurship, or garment production Can commit to attending all classes for the full duration of each session Eligibility & Requirements Must be 16 years of age or older Must be able to commit to the entire 14-week program Must provide required documentation: U.S. Driver’s License or acceptable proof of age Birth Certificate Social Security Card Documentation proving work eligibility in the United States Must be able to perform essential functions of the program with or without reasonable accommodations Basic understanding of the English language No prior sewing experience required Program Notes The classroom training portion of the program is unpaid Students will learn: Sewing machine basics and mechanics Fundamental sewing techniques Introductory garment sewing and production skills All sewing equipment and supplies are provided. Students are not required to own a sewing machine (though having one can be helpful) Tuition & Financial Assistance Tuition: $600 for the full 14-week program. $300 due on January 26th Payment plans available Scholarship assistance is currently available for individuals who have: Been formerly incarcerated and/or Are currently experiencing homelessness Questions? Cancellation Policy

Registration & Payment: Payment is required upon class registration. Guests, children and pets are not permitted during class. You are welcome to bring a water bottle, or snack to class. Refund Policy: If Sew Hope cancels a class due to low attendance you may opt for a full refund or credit. For student initiated cancellations, a full class refund if cancelled 5 days before the scheduled class. A credit is issued for cancellations 2-4 days prior to your class. No refund or credit is given for cancellations within one day of class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for withdrawals after the class begins or for missed classes due to illness, personal conflicts or other reasons.
